Taste of Taradale Cultūra Bake-n-150 Competition for Napier Retirement Villages, Rest Homes, Churches, Clubs and Schools

Participation Rules

Napier is 150 years old this year and there are a number of events planned to celebrate this milestone. The Taradale Business Association is organising a Taste of Taradale community Cultūra Fest to take place on the 27th of July. This competition is part of this winter fest and winners will be announced at the event on Saturday the 27th of July 2024.

3rd: $500

Competition Brief:
Decorate your table with a dessert of your choice - baked or produced in a 150 shape. The dessert needs to be ready for judging based on two aspects: 1) presentation and 2) taste. After judging, your team can sell your dessert to the public to raise funds for your organisation.

Competition Rules:

1.

Retirement villages, rest homes, churches, schools and non-for-profit clubs from Taradale are eligible to compete.

2.

Each entry should have five team members (one should be the team leader).

3.

Each team should have permission from their organisation to enrol and have at least one adult representative.

4.

Each organisation can enrol a maximum of one team.

5.

The team leader should register their intention to enter the competition by the 19th of July 2024 no later than 5pm.

6.

Teams can create their desert in any way they choose. The desert needs to be presented to the public in a suitable way. Please use recyclable materials where possible.

7.

Create a team name. All team names should be in good taste. No matter how cool you think it is – a team with an offensive name will be asked to come up with another name or may be disqualified.

8.

Team names and deserts must not discriminate against anyone on the basis of race, colour, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation.

9.

There is no restriction on the dessert items to be entered – use your imagination and remember it is winter.

10.

Teams must have an A4-size team name card displayed with their items. This should include the following text: ‘Cultūra Baked-n-150 Competition 2024. Presented by The Taradale Business Association’

11.

No personal names to be used in the team card.

12.

No credits to be included in the team card. This is to ensure anonymity for judging purposes.

13.

The Taradale hall will be open from 8:00am on event day. The team leader should have their items ready to be judged in Taradale hall by 9am on Saturday the 27th of July 2024.

14.

Bake-n-150 entries received after the closing date and time will be disqualified.

15.

By entering you agree that The Taradale Business Association may use photos of your bake-n-150 produce for any reason related to the 150-year celebrations and future Taradale marketing and promotional purposes.

16.

Bake-n-150 produce will first be on display to the general public at the event from 10am on the 27th of July 2024.

17.

Bake-n-150 designs/plans may strictly not be shared by team members with anyone prior to event day on the 27th of July 2024.

18.

At least one team member needs to represent the team at the announcement of winners on the 27th of July 2024 in the Taradale Hall.
