Historic Cultūra Logo Competition for Primary Schools

Participation Rules

Napier is 150 years old this year and there are a number of events planned to celebrate this milestone. The Taradale Business Association is organising a Taste of Taradale community Cultūra Festto take place on the 27th of July. This competition is part of this winter fest and winners will be announced at the event on Saturday the 27th of July 2024.

1st: $1,000
2nd: $750
3rd: $500

Competition Brief:
Produce a logo based on the famous Taradale clock tower. The winning logo will become part of the Taradale branding and will be used in marketing and promotional campaigns in future. While the clock tower is very old, the logo needs to speak to today’s audience.

Winners Announced:
Logos will first be on display at a formal dinner on Friday the 26h of July 2024 and will then be displayed to the general public at the event on the 27th of July 2024. The logos on display will be at the discretion of the organisers and is subject to the number of entries received and the quality of the entries. This means no tall entries are guaranteed to be displayed. At least one team member needs to represent the team at the announcement of winners on the 27th of July 2024 in the Taradale Hall.

Competition Rules:

1.

Teams of students from Napier Primary Schools are eligible to compete (all students should currently be enrolled in the same school).

2.

Each team should have five team members (one should be the team leader).

3.

Each team should have permission from their school to enrol and have an adult school representative.

4.

Each school can enrol a maximum of three teams.

5.

Teams can create their logo in any medium they choose but it needs to be displayed on an A1 paper/card board. Teams are encouraged to think about the strengths of their team members and decide who plays what role in making the logo. 

6.

Create a team name. All team names should be in good taste. No matter how cool you think it is – a team with an offensive name will be asked to come up with another name or may be disqualified.

7.

Team names and logo content must not discriminate against anyone on the basis of race, colour, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin(ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation.

8.

There is no restriction on the use of colours or the medium used to create your logo.

9.

Designs need to be entered in hard copy on an A1 page and delivered to McGreevy’s at 1 Puketapu Road during office hours before the close of competition. Entries need to be delivered in a suitable protective folder/container.

10.

Designs also need to be entered digitally in PDF format before the close of competition.

11.

Logos must have a team name card at the bottom of the logo design page (like a footer). This should include the following text: ‘Cultūra Logo Competition2024. Presented by The Taradale Business Association’

12.

No personal names or school names to be used in the team card.

13.

No credits to be included in the team card. This is to ensure anonymity for judging purposes.

14.

The team leader should submit their final film entry by Friday, 12 July 2024 no later than 5pm.

15.

Click the link for “Final Submission Photo Email” and fill out the required information. If you do not submit a photo of your logo via email, your logo will be disqualified.

16.

Logo entries received after the closing date and time will be disqualified.

17.

Logo designs may strictly not be shared by team members with anyone prior to the winners being announced on the 27th of July 2024.
